The most popular option for students, this comprehensive program offers our daily 20 hour regular program, with the addition of a special fluency workshop on Fridays. The Intensive program includes interactive activities, in-group dynamics, and a curriculum that focuses on pronunciation, idioms, expressions and phrasal verbs.

ESL Super-Intensive
In addition to the Intensive 25 hour program, students have one more hour of group classes to develop greater confidence and ability in conversation, fluency, and pronunciation. The extra hour will cover new vocabulary for conversation, role playing and cross-cultural discussion.

FSL Regular
Including Oral Grammar and Conversation from the core classes, the Regular Program allows students to study French and still have enough time to enjoy “la vie Montréalaise”.

In addition to the Oral Grammar and Conversation classes, this program offers one hour per day of Skills class where students can improve in all four linguistic areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking) through a variety of interactive exercises, games and activities inside and out of the classroom.

Business English
Get more talking time, improve your pronunciation, learn new idioms and expressions and receive maximum feedback. In addition to the 25-hour Intensive program, students receive 5 hours per week of extra classes.

University & College Pathway
Are you an international student who wants to study at a Canadian University or College? ALI’s Preparation Program assists students whose goal is to study in a Canadian college or university. Students develop skills in academic reading and writing as well as acquire the necessary academic research and discussion skills required at the college/university level.

- Requirements: Students who have successfully passed level 7 or 8 (and TOEFL or IELTS for English students / DELF for French students) or the required entrance exam for future ALI students.

- General Characteristics: Farm work and accommodation placements in Quebec, BC, Alberta and Ontario.Minimum placement is 2 weeks; maximum placement is 4 weeks with a visitor’s visa. All placements are unpaid. You are required to work between 15 and 25 hours per week to help offset the cost of your stay.
- Requirements: You must be physically able to perform farm work (this includes being able to lift 20kg). No animal, wild grass or pollen allergies. You must provide medical insurance proof. English or French at a lower intermediate level or above. Aged 18 in Quebec and Alberta (19 for other provinces). NB: Students wishing to work with horses must have previous experience, as must students wishing to work with machinery
University & College Pathway
Choosing a placement with the Voluntern program can be a life changing experience. You can choose your preferred field and contribute to the community while building your interpersonal skills and improving your language.

- General Characteristics: City placements available in: Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. Wilderness placements available in: BC Interior & Rockies, and rural Vancouver Island. Minimum placement is 4 weeks and maximum placement is 16 weeks. All placements are unpaid.
- Requirements: Minimum 4 weeks of studies with ALI (25 hours/week or 30 hours/week). English or French at an intermediate level or above (ALI level 5 and above). Aged 18 in Quebec and Alberta (19 years old for other provinces). You are required to work between 16 and 30 hours per week in city placements. If you choose a wilderness placement you must be physically fit as the work can be physically demanding.

- Requirements: Minimum 4 weeks of studies with ALI (25 hours/week or 30 hours/week). English or French at a lower intermediate level or above. Aged 18 in Quebec and Alberta for individual tours (19 for other provinces)
